Introduction
The City of Lexington's Resilient Community Comprehensive Plan creates a strategic framework guiding the city’s growth and development while enhancing its ability to withstand and recover from challenges over the next 20 years.
Community Profile
Lexington is a small, incorporated city located in northeastern Lee County, with a population of approximately 1,200 residents. Historically rooted in agriculture and ranching, the community continues to support livestock and farming-related industries, most notably through its regular cattle auctions and rural commercial services.
Community Resiliency
Community resiliency in Lexington refers to the ability of the town to anticipate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from significant adverse events, particularly natural hazards. This includes not only physical and infrastructural aspects but also the social and economic systems that support the community’s ability to adapt and thrive after disruptive incidents.
Housing
The focus is on affordability, renovations, and new construction to sustain Lexington’s housing market.
