W Spoke Hill is an unpaved right of way that has major potential for wildfire mitigation for Paradise Hills. History. It was originally dedicated to serve as a road for a development adjacent to PH that went belly up and is now overgrown and neglected. The residents of PH currently have one public road over an aging low water bridge to access 100 plus houses. We are sitting ducks for a wildfire and no safe way for 200 plus people to get off the hill. Most of us have had significant increases in home insurance and I was personally cancelled by my insurance company. Paving of W Spoke Hill from RR 12 to E Spoke Hill could be a lifesaver. Before we keep making improvements for tourism and thru traffic, the residents badly need safety measures like this.

As a 50 years resident of Wimberley as well as having been a real estate broker for 25 years, it goes without saying that population growth, tourism and increased traffic through town has become an unforeseen issue. Even though I don't see an immediate way to approach my solution here's what I would like to see, at least over the weekends. Close off the square to through traffic and allow pedestrian traffic only. Ideally, the traffic through the square would/could be permanently terminated by following a model like the Pearl Street mall in Boulder Co where a once busy through street was permanently closed to anything other than pedestrian use which has been very successful.
